"During his one-day visit to Libya, Maher delivered the message on the latest developments in the Middle East, especially the issues of Palestine and Iraq," said the official who declined to benamed.

"The message also touched upon an Egyptian initiative to activate joint Arab actions to deal with problems facing the Arab nations," he said.

Speaking to reporters after his meeting with Gaddafi in the Libyan capital of Tripoli, Maher said Gaddafi appreciated efforts exerted by Mubarak to safeguard the interest of the Arab nations.

Maher also said the Libyan leader entrusted him with a reply message to Mubarak on the importance of activating joint Arab actions.
