Lhasa Residents' Income Rises

The average disposable income for residents of Lhasa, capital of the Tibet Autonomous Region, amounted to 4,428.39 yuan (about 533.54 US dollars) in the first six months of the year, up 7.1 percent from the same period last year.

The average disposable income for residents of Lhasa, capital of the Tibet Autonomous Region, amounted to 4,428.39 yuan (about 533.54 US dollars) in the first six months of the year, up 7.1 percent from the same period last year.

Sources from the local authorities said that from January to June, the average expenditure of local residents totaled 4,192.16 yuan (about 505.1 US dollars).

During the period, consumption of foodstuffs, health care, transport, and telecommunications, educational, cultural and entertainment services, and housing, rose considerably.

Statistics show that Lhasa's gross domestic product reached 2.12 billion yuan (about 256 million US dollars) in the first six months of the year, up 15.49 percent on the same period of last year.
