Typhoon Imbudo had killed six people in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region when it stormed through the area on Thursday, local officials said Friday.
A previous report said that one person was missing in neighboring Guangdong Province.
Preliminary statistics showed that the lives of some 600,000 people in Yulin City, which was first struck by Typhoon Imbudo, had been affected.
Some 3,170 houses collapsed and 50,000 hectares of crops were ruined by the typhoon in Yulin, where direct economic losses were estimated at 80 million yuan (about 9.6 million US dollars).
The water levels of 45 small and medium-sized reservoirs in Guangxi had exceeded alarm levels as powerful gales and rainstormsgenerated by Typhoon Imbudo hit the region.
Though the typhoon had weakened to a tropical low pressure by Friday morning, Beijing-based Central Meteorological Station of China still warned of rainstorms and strong winds in the region for the rest of Friday.
