Three American soldiers were killed when they came under attack from gunfire and rocket-propelled grenades in northern Iraq, a military spokeswoman said Thursday.
The soldiers were part of the 101st Airborne Division.
The timing of the attack wasn't known, V Corps in Baghdad said, adding that reports were still coming in from the field.
The 101st participated in the assault and siege of a house in Mosul where Saddam's sons Uday and Qusay were killed Tuesday, along with a teenager believed to be Qusay's son, and a bodyguard.
There has been concern among troops that the deaths of the brothers may motivate insurgents in Iraq and result in more attacks, which happen daily.
The deaths brought to 158 the number of American servicemen killed in action since the war began March 20, surpassing by eight the death toll in the 1991 Gulf War.
On Wednesday, two American soldiers were killed in separate attacks on their convoys, including one near the Mosul, 240 miles north of Baghdad, and another in Ramaldi, 60 miles west of the capital, killing one soldier and wounding two more.
