Four Killed, One Missing in SW China Flood

A flood that hit in Bazhong City of Sichuan Province, southwest China, Wednesday evening has claimed four lives and left one person missing, an official of thecity flood control office said Thursday.

A flood that hit in Bazhong City of Sichuan Province, southwest China, Wednesday evening has claimed four lives and left one person missing, an official of thecity flood control office said Thursday.

Floods hit the city on Monday and struck again after a rainstorm pounded the same locality two days later.

The rainfall totaled 20.08 centimeters on Wednesday and caused more than 200 geological incidents. A total of 3,240 houses have collapsed and 11,000 buildings are in dangerous condition. Transport routes were severely damaged by floodwater.

Local government officials have rushed to the site helping to evacuate residents in the flood-stricken areas.
