Macao's Chief Executive Pays Tribute to Anti-SARS Workers
Macao's Chief Executive Edmund Ho Hau Wah paid tribute to over 1,000 representatives of those who were involved in the fight against SARS at an evening banquet Wednesday.
Macao's Chief Executive Edmund Ho Hau Wah paid tribute to over 1,000 representatives of those who were involved in the fight against SARS at an evening banquet Wednesday.
Ho told health care workers and staff of concerned departments to stay alert against the disease in order to safeguard people's health.
Chui Sai On, secretary for Social Affairs and Culture and also director of the SARS task force, said that with the efforts of thefrontier workers and all residents, Macao had won victory in the battle.
As the danger of SARS infection waned around the world, Macao'sSARS task force, which came in office on May 10 when the first case was verified, terminated its function on July 1.
Macao's SARS prevention and control work has been highly praised by World Health Organization experts who came to Macao on inspection tours. Macao successfully contained the virus and has found and cured one SARS case.
