Beijing Vows to Well Prepare the 2004 Asian Cup

"Beijing Organizing Committee is doing everything in its powerto make a success of the 2004 Asian Cup. Beijing has the ability to present the best Asian Cup," said spokesman Meng Guangshun.
"Even during the outbreak of SARS, no preparations have ever been delayed. We are as confident as before to cope with the demands as Beijing hosting the Asian Cup." He added.
Beijing was highly praised by the Chinese Football Association (CFA) and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) last December forsuccessfully holding the draw ceremony for the preliminary round and qualifying round of the 13th Asian Cup.
The CFA delegation has gone to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia last week,where they will brief the AFC on preparations for the 2004 Asian Cup on Thursday.
Beijing will also hold one-year countdown celebrations for the Asian Cup outside the Heaven of Temple, where ancient Chinese worshipped the Heaven for a good harvest, to welcome the approaching top soccer events in Asia.
