Heavy rain is again forecast for the flooded areas along the Huaihe River following a three-day lull, said the Central Meteorological Station Tuesday.
According to the forecast, from Tuesday to Thursday, the central and southern parts of central Henan province, most parts of eastern Jiangsu and Anhui provinces, central-south part of Henan province and the western and northern parts of Hubei province, both in central China, will experience torrential rains,or thundershowers with gale-force winds.
The localities are in need to guard against and control floods and geological disasters such as mud-flows and landslides, said the station.
Meanwhile, the meteorological station also forecast that a prolonged heat wave, with sustained high temperatures of 35 to 38 degrees Celsius and at times reaching 40 degrees Celsius, will ravage most areas south of the Yangtze River on Tuesday and Wednesday, but temperatures are expected to drop below 35 degrees Celsius on Thursday.
From Tuesday noon to Wednesday noon, the areas of Hunan province in central-south China, and Jiangxi, Fujian and Zhejiang provinces in east China will experience temperatures averaging between 39 and 41 degrees.
