Sao Tome Govt. Reaches Accord with Journalists over Salaries

The Sao Tome and Principe government has reached an agreement with the archipelago's journalists union, preventing a strike planned by national television network TVS over salaries and conditions.

The Sao Tome and Principe government has reached an agreement with the archipelago's journalists union, preventing a strike planned by national television network TVS over salaries and conditions.

According to a report reaching here on Friday, the union chief Ambrosio Quaresma told local press that the agreement was reached with the government of Prime Minister Maria das Neves and that payincreases will be financed from TVS advertising revenue.

It is reported that the minimum monthly salary for TVS journalists is about 25 euros (28.5 US dollars) each.
