Rainstorms Expected in China's Huaihe, Yangtze River Valleys

The China Central Meteorological Station Thursday issued a warning in view of the torrential rains to rainstorms and strong winds forecast for the Huaihe River and the middle reaches of the Yangtze River from Thursday noon to Friday noon.

The China Central Meteorological Station Thursday issued a warning in view of the torrential rains to rainstorms and strong winds forecast for the Huaihe River and the middle reaches of the Yangtze River from Thursday noon to Friday noon.

The affected areas include the central and eastern parts of Guizhou Province in south China, northern part of Hunan Province, the southern and eastern parts of Hubei Province in central China,as well as central and northern parts of Anhui and Jiangsu provinces in the east.

Some of the areas can expect thunderstorms or hail, according to the forecasting station.

Meteorologists hold that the rainy weather is the result of theinteraction of strong, warm and cold air currents.

The station called on the affected areas to guard against and control floods and geological disasters such as mud-rock flow and landslides.
