Shanghai GM, the largest Sino-US joint venture, has been honored as the most respected foreign joint-venture in China for the year 2002.
It was the second time the company has won the honor following last year's win.
A total of 20 businesses were honored as the most respected businesses in China this year, with Shanghai GM topping the list of sino-foreign joint-ventures.
Shanghai GM is also the only car manufacturer among the 20 businesses that was honored this year. Meanwhile, its ranking among the 20 businesses was upgraded from last year's No.10 to No.4.
The selection activities were jointly sponsored by the ResearchCenter of Business Management cases under the prestigious Beijing University and the Economy Observer newspaper.
The judgment panel consists of economists, government officialsand professors.
Since Shanghai GM was set up four and half years ago, its output has been on constant rise. Last year, its annual sales of motor vehicles exceeded 100,000 units. It is also widely engaged in education, environment protection and charity work.
