Foreign trade through north China'sTianjin Port surged by 29 percent to 21 billion US dollars during the first half of this year, Customs figures show.

The trade figure includes 9.31 billion US dollars in imports, up 26.2 percent year on year, and 11.68 billion US dollars in exports, up 31.3 percent, according to the latest report by Tianjin Customs.
The foreign trade involves the municipalities of Tianjin and Beijing, the provinces of Hebei and Shanxi in north China, and Shanghai municipality in east China.
Foreign trade through the port, excluding that of Tianjin, was valued at 10.89 billion US dollars, 51.86 percent of the total.
Machinery and electronic products dominated trade through the port, accounting for 43.7 percent of the foreign trade, or 9.176 billion US dollars.
A total of 4.99 billion US dollars worth of machinery and electronic products were imported, up 49 percent, while exports ofthe products were valued at 4.186 billion US dollars, an increase of 40.5 percent.
