Russia, US Committed to Middle East Peace Process
Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov and US Secretary of State Colin Powell have made up their mind to continue joint efforts in bringing peace to the Middle East, Russian Foreign Ministry said Tuesday.

The two officials confirmed their commitment during a telephoneconversation Tuesday to constantly push the Middle East peace process forward, primarily within the Quartet of international mediators that include Russia, the United States, the United Nations and the European Union, Interfax quoted the Foreign Ministry as saying.
Ivanov also informed Powell about his upcoming tour in the Middle East.
The minister will start his July 9-17 tour with an official visit to Belgium and then make a stopover in Italy. After this, Ivanov will travel to the Middle East, where he will visit Palestine, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon and Egypt.
Commenting on the post-war restoration in Iraq, Ivanov underscored the need for closer Russian-American cooperation to restore normal life in the country.
Powell also extended his condolences over the victims of the July 5 terrorist blasts in Moscow.
The death toll of the suicide bombings has risen to 14 by Tuesday, and 37 people injured in the attack are still hospitalized, Interfax said.
