Art Pieces to be Auctioned off to Raise Funds for SARS Medical Workers

An auction of art pieces is due to be held August 17 to raise funds to help the families of SARS medical workers, some of whom sacrificed their lives, organizers said.

An auction of art pieces is due to be held August 17 to raise funds to help the families of SARS medical workers, some of whom sacrificed their lives, organizers said.

The auction, with the approval of the Beijing municipal government, is being arranged by the Beijing Charity Society and the Beijing Yihe Shenghao Cultural Development Corp. Ltd.

The organizers have collected more than 350 art pieces, some of which are art treasures, estimated to be worth approximately 25 million yuan (about 3 million US dollars), according to the organizers.

The pre-auction exhibition will take place on August 15 and 16.
