Two Detained in Largest Document Counterfeiting Case

Police apprehended two suspects and seized more than 550,000 fraudulent certificates of 117 categoriesin Wuhan, the capital of Hubei Province in central China.

Police apprehended two suspects and seized more than 550,000 fraudulent certificates of 117 categoriesin Wuhan, the capital of Hubei Province in central China.

The seizure is the municipal police's largest of its kind sincethe passage of the anti-fraud act, according to the city public security bureau. It is also the province's biggest fraud case.

The two suspects, Wang Zhenyuan, a 27-year-male, and Zhu Zhihua,a 24-year-old female, both Hubei residents, were arrested on July 6 in a residence in Hankou District.

The police received a report in mid-June and carried out a ten-day investigation, which culminated in the discovery of the site for producing fraudulent documents belonging to Wang and Zhu.

The fake certificates confiscated by police include citizen IDs,student IDs, military IDs, diplomas from prestigious Chinese universities, birth certificates, land-use licenses, driving licenses and various business licenses.

Public security departments have warned local work units to be on the lookout for job seekers holding counterfeit health cards.

The investigation into the case is in progress.
