More Relief Goods Sent to Flood-hit Areas in East China
Large quantities of relief goods and medicines donated by the Nanjing Military Area Command in east China's Jiangsu Province were sent Sunday to the flood-hit areas in the eastern Anhui Province. The Chinese Ministry of Finance announced on Monday a 78-million-yuan (9.4 million US dollars) emergency fund to help the province.

With a total value of 314,000 yuan (37,800 US dollars), the goods, including bottled water, instant noodles, and canned food, were sent to Fuyang City, Chuxian County and Bengbu City Sunday afternoon and dispensed to residents.
Meanwhile, the first medical team dispatched by a hospital under Nanjing Military Area Command left for Fuyang Monday morning with medicines worth over 20,000 yuan (2,410 US dollars).
On July 3, the Anhui Provincial Military Area Command also sent relief goods with a total value of 210,000 yuan (25,300 US dollars), to the Mengwa Flood Diversion Area in the province's Funan County.
Flooding has already caused the evacuation of 378,900 people in Anhui Province, including 200,000 from the flood-stricken Huaihe River areas.
Among those evacuated, 275,500 have sought shelter with relatives and friends, 57,600 are living in state housing, 25,100 in tents, and 20,077 in shacks, according to the provincial civil affairs department.
Anhui Province has allocated 7.1 million yuan (858,000 US dollars) and a large quantity of goods, including 280 tons of rice,162 tons of flour, 2,000 tents and 450 tons of coal.
78m yuan earmarked for flood-striken Anhui
The Chinese Ministry of Finance announced on Monday a 78-million-yuan (9.4 million US dollars) emergency fund to help Anhui, a flood-affected province in east China, fight heavy flooding impact.
According to ministry officials, the money will be used for the following purposes: 40 million yuan (4.8 million US dollars) for rescue and repair operations, 37 million yuan (4.5 million US dollars) in an emergency fund for natural disasters, and 1 million yuan (120,000 US dollars) for disease control in flood-affected areas.
In addition, the ministry has given 45 million yuan (5.4 million US dollars) since mid June to help anti-drought efforts in the three northeastern provinces of Heilongjiang, Jilin and Liaoning and in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
From the beginning of this year, the central government has granted a total of 801 million yuan (96.5 million US dollars) of funding to support nationwide efforts fighting floods and droughts.
