Ministry of Finance Gives Huge Anti-flood, Drought Funds
The Chinese Ministry of Finance announced on Monday a 78-million-yuan (9.4 million US dollars) emergency fund to help Anhui, a flood-affected province in east China, fight heavy flooding impact.
The Chinese Ministry of Finance announced on Monday a 78-million-yuan (9.4 million US dollars) emergency fund to help Anhui, a flood-affected province in east China, fight heavy flooding impact.
According to ministry officials, the money will be used for the following purposes: 40 million yuan (4.8 million US dollars) for rescue and repair operations, 37 million yuan (4.5 million US dollars) in an emergency fund for natural disasters, and 1 million yuan (120,000 US dollars) for disease control in flood-affected areas.
In addition, the ministry has given 45 million yuan (5.4 million US dollars) since mid June to help anti-drought efforts in the three northeastern provinces of Heilongjiang, Jilin and Liaoning and in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
From the beginning of this year, the central government has granted a total of 801 million yuan (96.5 million US dollars) of funding to support nationwide efforts fighting floods and droughts.
