DPRK Refutes South Korea's 'Principal Enemy' Rhetoric
South Korea's rhetoric of "principal enemy" against the Democratic People's Republic of Korea(DPRK) reverses the spirit of the June 15, 2000 North-South Joint Declaration, the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on Sunday.
South Korea's rhetoric of "principal enemy" against the Democratic People's Republic of Korea(DPRK) reverses the spirit of the June 15, 2000 North-South Joint Declaration, the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on Sunday.
The South Korean military authorities recently designated once again the DPRK as its "principal enemy," which goes against the whole nation's hope for reconciliation, cooperation, peace and reunification, said the report, quoting a statement from the DPRK's Peaceful Reunification Committee.
The rhetoric betrays the spirit of the North-South Joint Declaration, it said.
When the United States is enhancing its military presence in South Korea aimed at an preemptive attack against the DPRK, the South Korean military authorities' rhetoric of "principal enemy" is a dangerous act that adds fuel to the inter-Korean confrontation, the statement said.
In June 2000, Kim Jong Il and Kim Dae-jung held the first historic summit in Pyongyang and signed the North-South Joint Declaration.
