Former Nigeria international Tijani Babangida is close to earning an offer from Chinese first division side Tianjin Taida, reports said Sunday.
The 28-year-old midfielder had a "successful" trial with Taida last month, convincing club official with his pace and ball control, said a story carried by the sina.com website.
Taida are pondering over signing Babangida as a replacement for Hungarian striker Zsombor Kerekes, who has been failing to fit in with the tactics of the team, the story added.
Babangida, who had 37 caps for his country, spent four seasons at Ajax before moving to Vitesse Arnhem in 2001.
