Sino-Egyptian Cooperation Sees Broad Prospects: Egyptian Official

Egyptian Deputy Prime Minister YoussefWali said here Saturday there exist broad prospects for cooperation between Egypt and China in the years ahead.

"The two countries have had fruitful cooperation in political, social, scientific and technological areas over the past years," Wali said at a ceremony, where the Chinese Embassy in Cairo donated10 air conditioners to the Egypt-China Friendship Association.

Bilateral cooperation on the use of atomic energy for peaceful purpose has developed well, he said, adding that Chinese Cultural Center in Cairo has played a positive role in promoting cultural exchanges between the two countries.

For his part, Chinese Ambassador to Egypt Liu Xiaoming said exchanges between China and Egypt have returned to normal since China succeeded in containing SARS epidemics in late June.

China is willing to work with Egypt to develop bilateral ties, he added.

The Egypt-China Friendship Association, established in 1958, hasserved as a main channel for non-governmental exchanges between thetwo countries.
