US to Reward US$25 million for Information on Saddam
The US civil administrator in Iraq,Paul Bremer, announced on Thursday that the US government has offered a reward of 25 million US dollars for information on the whereabouts of ousted Saddam Hussein.
The US civil administrator in Iraq,Paul Bremer, announced on Thursday that the US government has offered a reward of 25 million US dollars for information on the whereabouts of ousted Saddam Hussein.
The US government would give "a 25-million-US-dollar reward for information leading to the capture of Saddam Hussein," Bremer saidin a statement.
In addition, 15 million dollars would be rewarded to anyone forproviding information that leads to the capture of either of Saddam's two sons, Bremer added.
Bremer encouraged anyone who has such information "to come forward and give it to any coalition official -- civilian or military."
The prizes are to be offered under the "Rewards for Justice" program sponsored by the State Department, US officials said.
Saddam's whereabouts has remained a mystery two months after US President George W. Bush declared an end to major combat operations in Iraq.
