Pakistani Foreign Minister Khurshid Kasuri on Thursday denied reports of a freeze on Pakistan's nuclear program.

"No compromise would be made on national security," said the foreign minister, while interviewed with the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP).

Commenting on some media reports saying Pakistan had either capped or rolled-back its nuclear program under the US pressure, Kasuri said these reports are baseless.

He said Pakistan's nuclear program was of a defensive nature and Pakistan was forced to test its nuclear devices after India had done so much earlier in 1974 and then again in 1998.

Pakistan, he said, had no option but to restore the strategic balance.
