Over 6,000 Nepalese People Suffer from Viral Influenza, 6 Dead

At least six persons died among 6,539 patients infected with viral influenza that has spread for the past one month in many parts of the country, according to the Nepali Health Ministry.

At least six persons died among 6,539 patients infected with viral influenza that has spread for the past one month in many parts of the country, according to the Nepali Health Ministry.

"The epidemic was spread in 16 out of the country's 75 districts, but has come under control in 39 villages of these districts," revealed the latest data released by the ministry on Thursday.

The most affected areas were Lakhanpur village of Ramechhap district and Sunkhaani village of Dolakha district, all located incentral Nepal, where 1,200 and 1,062 people have been affected respectively. But the epidemic has already been controlled in these two villages, the ministry said.

Of the six deaths, three occurred in Bhimphedi village in Makawanpur district in central Nepal and another three in Panchthar district in eastern Nepal.

Health teams have been sent from the capital as well as the districts' headquarters, and are still working in some districts for controlling the influenza. Enditem
