The Palestinian Fatah movement has confirmed the reported acceptance by the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades of a conditional ceasefire with Israel.

Senior Fatah representative Hussein Al-Sheikh said Monday theal-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades has eventually declared its approval of the three-month truce with Israel.

The militant group has been frequently linked to the mainstream Fatah movement in reports of violence between Israel and the Palestinians.

The group decided to accept the ceasefire hours after itsmembers claimed responsibility for an attack on an Israeli truck in the West Bank town of Jenin. Some witnesses said the victim was aforeign worker, while others said the Israeli driver was killed.

Al-Sheikh said although the al-Aqsa martyrs brigades agreed tosuspend its attacks against Israel, "we need a little more time to reach a final and formal decision."

Al-Sheikh also urged all Palestinian factions to reach a unitedformula to overcome differences, which have delayed the declaration of a ceasefire several times.

In a communique released earlier in the day, the group said "we have decided to suspend military attacks on all levels on conditionthat Israel ends all military raids and aggressions."

The communique said the decision was taken in light of thelatest developments in the region, as well as the latest Arab pressures exerted on it to agree on a ceasefire.

The al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades is one of the major militant groups taking responsibility for a number of suicide bombing and shooting attacks on Israeli targets in the 33-month conflict.

Two other radical factions of Hamas and Islamic Jihad issued ajoint declaration of ceasefire with Israel on Sunday. Fatah issued a statement of truce on a separate occasion.

All militants groups say the ceasefire is conditional on fullIsraeli pullout and halt to raids, assassinations and demolition onthe Palestinian territories.
