Juvenile Protection Laws Under Scrutiny by China's Legislature

China's top legislature, the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), will conduct a law enforcement inspection in early July to better protect teenagers' legitimate rights and prevent juvenile delinquency.

China's top legislature, the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), will conduct a law enforcement inspection in early July to better protect teenagers' legitimate rights and prevent juvenile delinquency.

The inspection will cover the State Council and its departments,the Supreme People's Court and the Supreme People's Procuratorate,said He Chunlin, deputy head of the inspection team on Monday.

He, also director of the NPC Committee for Internal and Judicial Affairs, said the inspection team, led by NPC Standing Committee vice-chairwoman Gu Xiulian, will also go to Jilin, Anhui,Henan provinces and Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region in early July tocheck the implementation of laws on juvenile protection and prevention of juvenile delinquency.

He said the inspection team would focus on the protection of educational rights, with special emphasis on teenagers in rural areas or among the floating population.

The inspection team will also check administration of Internet bars, computer games, movies and publications to ensure a healthy social environment for youth, He said
