"I am delighted to see Hong Kong has made such an achievement in economic development. This should be the pride of Hong Kong and every Chinese," Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao said as he arrived at the Kwai Chung Container Terminal Monday morning.
"I am delighted to see Hong Kong has made such an achievement in economic development. This should be the pride of Hong Kong and every Chinese," Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao said as he arrived at the Kwai Chung Container Terminal Monday morning.
Wen was briefed by tycoon Li Ka-shing that the container port is the world's busiest container terminal with the total throughput in 2002 amounting to 6.6 million TEUs.
The premier said that he hoped Hong Kong can create an environment more favorable for attracting foreign investment.
Founded in 1969, the container port is the assets of Li's flagship Hutchison Whampoa.
Wen arrived in Hong Kong Sunday to attend anniversary celebrations for the return of Hong Kong to the motherland on July 1, 1997.
