Premier Wen Meets Renowned HK Businessmen

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao had talks with a group of elite from Hong Kong's industry and commerce circles Sunday night.

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao had talks with a group of elite from Hong Kong's industry and commerce circles Sunday night.

During the meeting, Wen spoke highly of Hong Kong businessmen's patriotism and love for the motherland and Hong Kong. He said thatthe business people have made contributions not only to Hong Kong's economic prosperity but also to the reform and opening-up and the modernization drive in the mainland.

Wen stressed Hong Kong's advantages in economic development, and encouraged the business elite to reinforce their confidence, seize opportunities, gather courage to explore and achieve new resplendence.

Wen briefed the business people about the economic situation inthe Mainland, and solicited Hong Kong businessmen's opinions on strengthening economic and trade relations between the mainland and Hong Kong.

Wen arrived here at noon Sunday to attend anniversary celebrations for the return of Hong Kong to the motherland on July1, 1997.
