Beijing to Reflect on Lessons Learned in Fight against SARS: Acting Mayor
Beijing will reflect seriously on the experiences and lessons learned from its fight against SARS, which has ended successfully as indicated by the WHO's decision to remove the city from its list of SARS-infected areas on Tuesday, said Wang Qishan, acting mayor of Beijing.

Wang made the remark while meeting with Teguh Ganda Wijaya, the president of the Indonesian Sinar Mas Group, on Wednesday.
Wang said that he considers the WHO's decisions the result of persistent efforts from all circles of society.
Wang said that Beijing is learning to more effectively balance,integrate or coordinate economic and social development with urbanmanagement and construction. The city will also set up rapid response public health systems very soon to prevent the spread of SARS and other contagious diseases.
According to him, the municipal government is drawing up policies concerning waste disposal and sewage treatment to improvethe city's management.
Wijaya congratulated Beijing on its victory against SARS and expressed his admiration for the government's resolve in bringing the disease under control in such a short time.
