According to Friday's overseas edition of the People's Daily, the project, jointly launched by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China (CYLC) and the Ministry of Education, is proceeding well.
The application deadline is June 30, and volunteers will be sent to the field in early September for assignments of one to twoyears.
The volunteers will work in education, healthcare, poverty relief and youth center building. The government is also encouraging them to build their careers there upon completion of their volunteer service.
The country will provide policy and funding support to the volunteers.
