The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and its 10 dialogue partners began their meeting (ASEAN+10) here Thursday morning.
During the one-day meeting, foreign ministers or representatives of 10 ASEAN members and its dialogue partners willhave closed sessions to discuss security, economic cooperation, trade, and other related socio-economic issues collectively.
They are expected also to talk about a wide-ranging international, political and security issues, particularly the evolving concept of security since the September 11 terrorist attacks so as to achieve greater sense of common security and building up more effective security framework.
ASEAN+10 meeting, part of Post Ministerial Conferences (PMC), followed the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) that was convened by ASEAN members, 10 dialoguers, Papua New Guinea, Mongolia, the DPRK plus European Union Wednesday.
After the closed sessions, ASEAN members will go into separate sessions with each of the dialoguers (10+1) to examine specific issues existing between them in detail before PMC ends this afternoon.
