The United States has pledged to oblige both Israel and the Palestinians to implement the roadmap peace plan, a senior Palestinian National Authority (PNA) security official said Tuesday.
The United States has pledged to oblige both Israel and the Palestinians to implement the roadmap peace plan, a senior Palestinian National Authority (PNA) security official said Tuesday.
"We don't have ambitions that the United States would be one-hundred percent fair with the Palestinians, but we had guarantees from US President George W. Bush that the roadmap would be equally implemented," said the official who asked not to be named.
He told a group of reporters in Gaza City that the Palestinian side is "totally committed to implementing the roadmap peace plan and taking over security responsibility in any area from which Israeli army would withdraw."
"The Israelis missed an opportunity to reach a ceasefire when they sent their Apaches to assassinate Hamas leader Abdul Aziz al-Rantisi. It was clear they did so to block any chance of reaching atruce," the official added.
