The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) opened its 36th Ministerial Meeting in Phnom Penh Monday.
The meeting will review progress in implementation of the organization's common programs, particularly progress in the region's economic integration -- building up free trade area, in-bloc balanced development, frameworks for an economic community.
Under the theme "Towards an ASEAN Economic Community -- Integrated and Outward-Looking", the meeting will also look into more cooperation with the dialogue partners and other countries.
Foreign ministers from the 10 ASEAN members and secretary-general attended the meeting.
As the host country, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen will make a keynote speech at the meeting.
Before the meeting starts, the foreign ministers and the secretary-general paid a courtesy call on Hun Sen.
