North China's Hebei Province is mobilizing its relevant regions and departments to combat a locust plague that is likely to threaten its summer harvests and grasslands.
North China's Hebei Province is mobilizing its relevant regions and departments to combat a locust plague that is likely to threaten its summer harvests and grasslands.
According to research by the Hebei agricultural department, experts had predicted that Hebei would suffer a serious locust plague this year. The infected area could reach four million over 260,000 ha. The summer locusts have begun to emerge from the soil.
Experts warned that the time to act is now.
The provincial government has contacted local governments and departments related to agriculture, meteorology and water resources to prepare for the impending locust plague.
The government plans to eradicate the destructive locusts with efforts from the ground and the air.
