China into Russian President Cup Women's Volleyball Semis

China defeated Azerbaijan three sets to none to reach the semi-finals with a perfect record in three group matches in the Russian President Cup women's volleyball tournament on Friday.

China defeated Azerbaijan three sets to none to reach the semi-finals with a perfect record in three group matches in the Russian President Cup women's volleyball tournament on Friday.

The Chinese, winners of the Swiss Grand Prix meeting last week, were held for long before winning a rallied first set 30-28.

After a fairly easy 25-18 win in the second set, the Chinese were pressured in the third by the central Asian team, who leveled the score from 22-22 to 31-31. But China, who beat Italy and Croatia in their earlier group matches, calmed their nerves and sealed the match win a 33-31 victory in the third set, thanks to captain Feng Kun's powerful volley.
