NPC Chairman Meets Laotian Party Chief

The Chinese National People's Congress (NPC) hopes to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the Laotian National Assembly in the areas of legislation, supervision and the building of democratic and legal systems, said top Chinese legislator Wu Bangguo.

NPC Chairman Meets Laotian Party Chief
The Chinese National People's Congress (NPC) hopes to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the Laotian National Assembly in the areas of legislation, supervision and the building of democratic and legal systems, said top Chinese legislator Wu Bangguo.

Wu, chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, made the remarks Friday at a meeting with Khamtay Siphandone, president of theCentral Committee of the Laotian People's Revolutionary Party and Laotian president.

Wu, also a member of the Political Bureau Standing Committee of the Chinese Communist Party Central Committee, said Khamtay is an old friend of the Chinese people, and added that he believes Khamtay's visit will be a success.

Noting that China and Laos are neighbors with a long history of friendly relations, Wu said the Chinese side will work with the Laotian side to further the bilateral good-neighborly friendship.

Khamtay said that bilateral reciprocal cooperation has witnessed substantial development in recent years, and the Laotianside will learn from China and explore their cooperative potentialin order to lay a firmer foundation for the future development of the overall bilateral good-neighborly friendship of cooperation.
