The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Thursday denounced the intrusion of South Korea's battleships into the territorial waters of the DPRK, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported.

Two clippers and one patrol boat of the South Korean forces intruded into the water area south of Tungsangot, Ssanggyo-ri, Kangryong County, the KCNA quoted a military source as saying.

Nearly 20 South Korean battleships on Wednesday also committedmilitary provocation after intruding into the territorial waters of the DPRK, and some 15 battleships perpetrated 10 cases of such intrusion on Tuesday, the source said.

The source said that the situation in the waters is getting tenser due to the increasing intrusion of South Korean battleships.

"If the South Korean military authorities misjudge the self-restraint of the north side and lead the situation in the waters to a touch-and-go situation, this will spark an unpredictable crisis and they will have to be held responsible for all the consequences arising therefrom", he added.

The DPRK and South Korea exchanged fires on the Yellow Sea in June last year, which resulted in many casualties on both sides.
