Ammunition Facility Explosion Kills Three in Iraq

Three Iraqis were killed, two others injured in an ammunition facility explosion, the US Central Command said Tuesday.

Three Iraqis were killed, two others injured in an ammunition facility explosion, the US Central Command said Tuesday.

The explosion occurred at Ad Diwaniyah, about 120 km south of the capital Baghdad on Monday morning, the US Central Command saidin a statement posted on its website on Tuesday.

It said the explosion caused no casualties for US-led coalitionforces in Iraq. The cause of the blast was not known at once and an investigation was under way.

It added that US troops in Iraq intend to clear the ammunition facility on Tuesday when they make sure it is safe to do so.

One US soldier was killed, and another injured in an explosion at Ad Diwaniyah last month. The US Central Command said the blast was not the result of "hostile action."
