Water Level at Three Gorges Reservoir Reaches 127.36 Meters

The water level of the Three Gorges Reservoir had reached 127.36 meters by 10:00 a.m. Sunday. The water level is expected to rise to 135 meters by June 15, and navigation on the Yangtze River will resume on June 16.

The water level of the Three Gorges Reservoir had reached 127.36 meters by 10:00 a.m. Sunday.

The reservoir officially started storing water on June 1 as the sluice gate began to be closed.

The water level is expected to rise to 135 meters by June 15, and navigation on the Yangtze River will resume on June 16.

After ten years of construction, the Three Gorges Project will begin to pay dividends this year, playing an important role in flood control, power generation, navigation, water diversion and environmental protection.

Launched in 1993, the Three Gorges Project is scheduled for completion in 2009.
