Man Shot Dead near UK's Heathrow Airport for Replica Handgun
The man who was killed by police in a gunfight near London's Heathrow Airport on Friday was found armed with a replica handgun, the Police Complaints Authority (PCA)said Saturday.
The man who was killed by police in a gunfight near London's Heathrow Airport on Friday was found armed with a replica handgun, the Police Complaints Authority (PCA) said Saturday.
Meanwhile, the PCA, which oversees the ongoing police investigation, said there is nothing to suggest it was related to terrorism.
PCA said Keith Larkins, a 33-year-old jobless man from west London, had been told to pull over by a police dog handler who had spotted the poor condition of his VW Golf and its flat front tyre near the British Airways headquarters at West Drayton in west London.
Larkins stopped but then drove away and collided with a pedestrian with his bicycle. He then stopped the car and fired at the police first.
Police returned fire and Larkins was fatally injured. He died in a hospital.
Police later recovered a replica handgun with three rounds of blank ammunition on the scene, said the PCA.
