Chinese Mainland Reports 1 New SARS Case (June 6)

The Chinese mainland reported one new SARS case and 2 new deaths from the disease between 10:00 a.m.June 5 and 10:00 a.m. June 6, the Ministry of Health said Friday.

Beijing reported no new SARS cases, two new deaths from the disease from 10:00 a.m. June 5 to 10:00 a.m. June 6, the Ministry of Health said Friday.

Two new SARS cases, two deaths in HK
There were two new confirmed cases of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) on Friday, said the Department of Health and the Hospital Authority.

Two female SARS patients aged at 59 and 90 died Friday, bringing to 286 the total number of deaths relating to SARS.

The Press Office under the Ministry of Health published Friday afternoon a press release on the latest SARS situation on the Chinese mainland.

From 10:00 am June 5 to 10:00 am June 6, the Chinese mainland reported 1 new diagnosed SARS case, 99 patients recovered and 2 deaths. Sichuan Province reported 1 new diagnosed case (which used to be a suspected case) and 2 patients recovered; and Beijing reported 82 patients recovered and 2 deaths. Patients recovered also included 6 from Inner Mongolia, 4 from Hebei, 3 from Shanxi, and 1 each from Tianjin and Gansu.

From 10:00 am June 5 to 10:00 am June 6, the Chinese mainland reported 4 new suspected cases, of which 2 were from Guangdong and 2 from Beijing.

From 10:00 am June 5 to 10:00 am June 6, the Chinese mainland also reported 30 misdiagnosed suspected cases, of which 13 were from Inner Mongolia, 7 from Tianjin, 5 from Beijing, 2 from Guangdong, and 1 each from Shanxi, Jilin and Sichuan. By 10:00 am June 6, the Chinese mainland had a total of 868 suspected cases.

From 10:00 am May 18 to 10:00 am June 6, the Chinese mainland reported a total of 203 diagnosed SARS cases (including 43 new diagnosed cases and 160 patients who used to be suspected cases).

Of these figures,

Beijing reported 32 new diagnosed cases and confirmed 111 suspected cases as SARS patients

Hebei reported 6 new diagnosed cases and confirmed 25 suspected cases as SARS patients

Shanxi reported 4 new diagnosed cases and confirmed 6 suspected cases as SARS patients

Guangxi reported 1 new diagnosed case

Inner Mongolia reported no new diagnosed case but confirmed 9 suspected cases as SARS patients

Liaoning reported no new diagnosed case but confirmed 4 suspected cases as SARS patients

Sichuan reported no new diagnosed case but confirmed 3 suspected cases as SARS patients

Shanghai and Hubei reported no new diagnosed case but each confirmed 1 suspected case as SARS patient

Now 1,122 patients are receiving treatment in hospitals.

According to the statistics standard of WHO, by 10:00 am June 6, 9 provinces on the Chinese mainland had reported SARS cases. Guangxi and Hubei had reported no new diagnosed case for more than 15 days; Shanghai, Shanxi and Inner Mongolia had reported no new diagnosed case for more than 10 days; and Hebei had reported no new diagnosed case for 8 days.
