Beijing has full confidence in staging a best-ever Olympic Games despite the impact of SARS, said the organizing committee president Liu Qi here on Thursday.

Meeting the visiting Berlin mayor Klaus Wowereit, Liu said,"We are still fully confident of staging a best-ever and successful Olympics. SARS will just have a short-term impact on Beijing's economy and little damage on the preparation work for the Games."

Beijing's revenue in the first five months increased by 21 percent compared with that of the same period last year, he added.

"The construction projects will go under way as scheduled this year and their qualities will be ensured," he said.
