Any US Attack on Iran to Prove Suicidal: Khamenei

Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Wednesday warned the United States not to make any attempt to attack Iran, saying any military attack on Iran would prove "suicidal" for the aggressor.
Speaking at a gathering commemorating late Imam Khomeini, Khamenei said, "After a war the Iranian nation is not and would notdrag the country to the precipice of a military showdown, but all must know that attacking Iran would mean suicide for the aggressor."
Referring to US accusations and threats against Iran, Khamenei said, "Iranians from all walks of life, especially the enthusiasticand prepared youth, will strongly and stiffly confront any attacker."
Washington has boosted its Iran-bashing rhetoric and threats in recent weeks, accusing Tehran of pursuing an aggressive nuclear program and sheltering suspected terrorism group of Al-Qaeda. Iran has repeatedly denied the charges.
"Such threats are not anything new and any American attack on Iran would cost the American government very dearly," Khamenei said.
"The Americans have realized this. Thus, they seek to terrorize Iranian people by speculating on a military attack or other threatsso that they can achieve their wishes of the retreat of Iranians and their betrayal of the nation," Khamenei said.
