Chinese Vice Premier Welcomes Overseas Investment

China will continue to open itself to the outside world and encourages overseas enterprises to expandtheir operations, increase investment and strengthen cooperation in China, Chinese Vice Premier Huang Ju said in Beijing Wednesday.

China will continue to open itself to the outside world and encourages overseas enterprises to expandtheir operations, increase investment and strengthen cooperation in China, Chinese Vice Premier Huang Ju said here Wednesday.

Huang, also a member of the Standing Committee of the PoliticalBureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), met with Goldman Sachs Chairman Henry Paulson in Beijing Wednesday.

Huang said China had achieved good results in the fight againstsevere acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), adding that the economy had maintained strong development.

Paulson praised China for its achievement in controlling SARS and reiterated his confidence in long-term growth of the Chinese economy. He expressed willingness to continue to expand cooperation with the financial sector of China.
