Berlin is looking for the opportunities to cooperate with Beijing in preparing for the 2008 Olympic Games, German capital mayor Klaus Wowereit said on Wednesday.
"Berlin government is very supportive when Berlin's as well as German companies participate in Beijing's preparation for the Games," said Wowereit, heading a municipal government delegation visiting the Chinese capital.
He was met by Wang Wei, newly appointed deputy president of Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2008 Games.
"We would like to know some details about the plans for the construction work Beijing will undertake during the preparation and see what we can do," he said.
The mayor said Berlin was interested in such Olympic projects as the Olympic Village, the cycling track and clean transportationfacilities.
"Germany has much experience in staging large-scale sporting events as Berlin and Munich were both hosting cities of the Olympics. The 2006 World Cup is also to be held in Germany," saidWang.
"We need to learn from them and Berlin mayor's visit further solidifies the ties between the two cities," added Wang.
