South-North Leaders Dialogue Meeting Opens in Evian

The informal South-North leaders dialogue meeting opened in Evian on Sunday with participation of the leaders of the Group of Eight (G8) and heads of state or government of 11 developing countries.

The informal South-North leaders dialogue meeting opened in Evian on Sunday with participation of the leaders of the Group of Eight (G8) and heads of state or government of 11 developing countries.

Economic growth and international cooperation are at the top ofthe agenda of the meeting.

The 11 developing countries are Brazil, China, India, Mexico, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, together with five countries of the New Partnership for Africa's Development -- Algeria, Egypt, Nigeria,Senegal and South Africa.

Switzerland has also been invited by France to attend the meeting.
