Russia, US Agree to 'Improve Lives of Iraqis': CNN
Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart George W. Bush said on Sunday that both the two sides would commit themselves to improving the lives of the Iraqi people, CNN reported.

The two leaders made the remarks at a joint news conference in St. Petersburg, at which Bush expressed his thanks for Russia's support in lifting the 13-year sanctions on Iraq.
Putin said that after the United Nations adopted Resolution 1483 to lift all civilian sanctions on Iraq, except the arms embargo, Russia and the United States would "continue our cooperation" and "work together to improve lives of the Iraqis."
Putin said he shared the view with Bush that "Iraqis must decide their destiny."
As to the banned weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, the issue that led to the US-led war to topple Saddam Hussein's regime, Bush said the coalition forces had found some labs in the country which violated the relevant UN resolutions.
The US president reaffirmed the US stance that proscribed arms could be finally found in Iraq.
Bush arrived in St. Petersburg to attend the city's 300th anniversary celebration after concluding his visit to Poland.
