Three More SARS Cases Confirmed in HK

Three new cases of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) were confirmed in Hong Kong Saturday and all of them are healthcare workers of North District Hospital.

Three new cases of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) were confirmed in Hong Kong Saturday and all of them are healthcare workers of North District Hospital.

This was the 28th day in a row that Hong Kong's daily infectioncases were in single digits.

Meanwhile, additional four people died of SARS in Hong Kong, and this brought the total number of SARS-related deaths to 278, according to a press release of the Department of Health and the Hospital Authority.

The deceased include two men and two women aged from 55 to 65. One of them was a private hospital doctor.

The number of patients recovered and discharged from hospital continues to rise to 1310. Of them, six were discharged Saturday.

The number of SARS patients in intensive care units continues to drop to 29. These cases are part of the 87 cases under treatment in hospitals.

Most of the patients are showing positive responses to the treatment protocol. In addition, 64 are recovering patients in convalescence and in preparation for discharge.
