DPRK Says It Has Military Deterrence to Nuclear War
The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) has already had military deterrence to a nuclear war, two reunification bodies assured Koreans on Wednesday.
The Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland and the Democratic Front of the Reunification of the Fatherland of the DPRK said in a joint statement to all Koreans that US President George W. Bush has recently threatened the DPRK with "further steps" and "tougher measures," which cannot but mean sanctions, blockade and military attack to the DPRK.
The DPRK has made it clear that any sanctions would be seen as a declaration of war, said the document.
The military deterrence is not aimed at threatening or attacking other countries, but purely to defend the DPRK, the document said, adding that the deterrence will only be used to counter external invaders, not to threaten people in South Korea.
The document also said that with the deterrence the DPRK can handle a US "precise strike," "surgical strike" or "preemptive nuclear attack," and give an "unlimited" counterattack to the United States.
