The Thai government is sending medical kits for medical workers in Hong Kong to help prevent the spread of SARS.
Permanent Secretary for public health Wallop Thaineua said thatin order to demonstrate the concern of the Thai government and people towards the people of Hong Kong, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was sending 640 medical kits worth over 500,000 baht (11,904 US dollars) to Hong Kong doctors and nurses involved in the treatment of SARS patients.
The kits have now been sent to the Thai consulate in Hong Kong,and will be handed over to the Hong Kong government in the near future, according to a report of Thai News Agency Sunday.
So far there have been eight cases of SARS in Thailand, of whomtwo have already died. All of those affected contracted SARS while staying abroad.
Since March 13 the Thai authorities have screened 303,125 people for SARS.
