First Recovered SARS Patient in Gansu Discharged from Hospital

The first recovered severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) patient in Gansu Province, northwest China, was discharged from hospital Saturday at the approval of local medical experts.

The first recovered severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) patient in Gansu Province, northwest China, was discharged from hospital Saturday at the approval of local medical experts.

The recovered patient, a local farmer who serves as migrant workers to other places, was confirmed to be infected with SARS virus on April 19 after falling ill upon returning home, becoming the first confirmed SARS patient of the province.

After nearly one-month of careful medical treatment, all the clinic symptoms of the patient had disappeared, and medical experts decided after consultation that he had reached the standard of recovery set by the Ministry of Health.
